  I have know this pub as long as I can remember and it has always had a good reputation for food, drink and service.
  
  As a child I visited Austwick most summers to stay at a nearby campsite. We would pop along to the annual village summer fair that, if my memory serves me correctly involved residents making lots of scarecrow style/sized cuckoos. It sounds like something from The Whicker Man but it was all good community spirited stuff and no one was burnt alive.....which was nice.
  
  Fast forward 20+ years to 2014 and I was taking a trip down memory lane with my girlfriend and was overjoyed to find out that it firstly still existed and secondly it had improved over the time I had been away.
  
  Great selection of lagers and, more importantly to a Yorkshire Dales pub, ales that are kept very well. The service was spot on and I would not hesitate to recommend.

  We were given a table in the porch area of the pub ....we could hear every word they were saying on the pass! ..kitchen to waiter etc etc.
  we were waiting a long time from been given the menu to taking our order ...out of sight out of mind, came to mind!! ......French night ! food ok onion soup really nice .....coq au van was different? served with Pasta..
  Weve had Sunday Lunch before, which was very good.

  I've eaten here 3 times now and the food had always been exceptional. The rabbit I had was particularly good and getting the cheap sharing player of nibbles like sausages and pimiento peppers is a really good alternative to a starter each. Staff were super friendly and there's a good range of beers and whiskies. I really rate this pub highly.
